Summary:
Under the supervision of the Sports Director/Sports Coordinator, the sports staff will be responsible for officiating adult/youth sports programs.
Including but not limited to; Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, T-ball, Dodgeball, Football, and Softball.
Essential Functions:
Officiate adult/youth sports programs according to the general rules of the sport as well as any rules specific to the Crossroads YMCA.
Stop play when necessary and explain violations consistently and fairly.
Know, demonstrate, and interpret the YMCA philosophy to players and spectators.
Report injuries to Program Director, following safety procedures and guidelines.
Must demonstrate the ability to work with varying ages and to manage large groups.
Must demonstrate the ability to control all aspects of the game that you are officiating.
Attends and participates in other YMCA program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings required.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to work at various branches, within the Crossroads YMCA organization.
Work closely with the Sports Director/Sports Coordinator to address any concerns.
Assist the Sports Director/Sports Coordinator when needed.
Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events as designated by the Branch Executive Director.

Qualifications:
Certifications required within 30 days of hire:
CPR/AED & First Aid New Employee Orientation and online trainings required prior to the start of employment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Minimum age 18 preferred.
Six months or more of related experience preferred Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents Must have a passion for learning, working with youth/families, and sports in general Desire and ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
Must have high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform job responsibilities.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
Visual and auditory ability to respond to game situations and the physical ability to act swiftly in the event of an emergency situation.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
