Interm CFO

My client is a multi-product and sector focused investment bank.
They were formed on the premise that lower middle market advisory firms could do more to help clients navigate operational or financial challenges and the complexity of capital markets transactions.
My client is not your typical investment bank or restructuring firm:
we are a group of former business operators with unique industry experience and financial advisory bankers who help our clients achieve their strategic and financial goals.
We are looking for entrepreneurial, talented, and driven team members.
The three industry focus areas are Industrials & Manufacturing, Transportation & Logistics, Technology & Business Services.
Role Requirements:
CFO - operationally oriented senior finance executive with multiple stints as CFO in distressed / turnaround environments.
The CFO should be a very strategic CFO with real operational experience and will interface more broadly across an organization and drive operational change.
The CFO should also be comfortable managing stressed organizations, attracting and retaining key talent, have familiarity working in levered environments (high levels of debt), and be metrics / KPI oriented.
Industry experience in our sectors is key.
Able to manage junior resources and leverage their capabilities is critical as well.
Controller - seasoned / capable resource at managing liquidity / treasury functions of a company, comfortable with stressed liquidity environments, familiar with and power user of diverse set of accounting software systems / ERPs, strong financial modeling / forecasting capabilities, can manage accounting / finance team.
Industry expertise is less critical here.
Chief Restructuring Officer - Our client is placed in as CRO to run a distressed Company.
They report to the board of directors and is the architect and main executor of the overall restructuring plan.
There are two flavors of CRO - one that can actually run the business (see CEO qualifications below) or one that can manage liquidity and manage a transaction process.
The executive that just manages liquidity and transaction processes is more likely to come from a restructuring firm and be a consultant working on these types of projects.
They typically will have less direct operating experience in running companies but will come from a consulting background.
CROs must be highly capable at managing very challenging stakeholder dynamics.
Bankruptcy experience from a CRO is a huge plus - we need more folks comfortable being CRO taking companies through bankruptcies.
CEO - multiple tours of duty as CEO successfully leading business in our sectors.
Managed companies through challenging operational environments (executed turnarounds with tough market conditions, balance sheet dynamics, challenging stakeholders, etc.
).
Proven capability to develop a restructuring plan to fix a company, create buy in with other key employees and stakeholders, and drive the company through successful execution of the restructuring plan.
Subject Matter Expert - we are always looking for restructuring folks that have a particular skill set or capability that we can use on an ad hoc basis.
Candidate must be willing to work on a project by project basis as a contractor (this is not a Full- time long term role).
This person will travel Monday to Thursday to be onsite with our clients if they are taking an interim management role.
For other subject matter roles or non-interim management projects, travel will be required but not nearly as frequently as every week.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
